Action Peoples Party's Yusuf Kabiru is on the 2027 ballot; almost nothing else is documented
INEC lists him as the APP candidate. Beyond that single fact and the party's registration, Vero found no verifiable public record.
INEC’s signed final list of candidates for the 2027 presidential election - the commission’s own document, downloaded from inecnigeria.org and read here, not a newspaper’s reprint of it - carries the entry on page 1 of three. Every page is signed by Rose Oriaran-Anthony, Secretary of the Commission. Entry 3, against APP, reads "YUSUF KABIRU", age 54, male, with Ofordile Peace Egobia, 47, female, as running mate. The qualifications filed with the commission are given as FSLC SSCE NATIONAL DIPLOMA.
Those four facts - a name, an age, a running mate, a set of filed certificates - are more than we could establish about this candidate from any other source combined, and they are close to the whole of what is known about him.
INEC’s register of parties supplies the rest, and what it supplies is a correction. It gives APP’s full name as the Action Peoples Party, not the "Allied Peoples Party" several outlets printed. It also gives the party’s national chairman as Uchenna Nnadi - which means that unlike the Action Alliance, the Boot Party or the National Democratic Party, the APP has not nominated its own chairman. Its candidate is someone else, and that someone else leaves almost no trace.
Two collisions of name make this candidate unusually hard to see, and both are worth stating so that readers searching for him do not find the wrong person. He is not Abba Kabir Yusuf, the governor of Kano State, whose name is a near-anagram of his and who dominates every search for it. He is also not Rabiu Kabiru, aged 80, who appears on the same INEC list as the Peoples Redemption Party’s vice-presidential candidate. Three different men, one page apart.
Alongside it we read INEC’s register of political parties, which lists 22 registered parties. Only 18 of them field a presidential candidate in 2027; APGA, the NNPP, Accord and the Youth Party field none.
Beyond the commission’s entry we found nothing reliable: no profession, no prior office, no account of how he emerged as the APP’s candidate, no party page, no campaign material, and no captioned photograph we could attribute to him with confidence. The picture on this report is his line in INEC’s list, because that is the only likeness of him we can vouch for.
The temptation with a candidate this invisible is to assemble a profile out of fragments and near-matches. The two name collisions above are exactly how that goes wrong, and a wrong profile attached to a real man on a national ballot is worse than an empty one.
So the report is short by necessity, and firm as far as it goes: Yusuf Kabiru is 54, filed a national diploma among his qualifications, runs with Peace Egobia Ofordile, and is the Action Peoples Party’s candidate for President of Nigeria. Everything past that sentence is, at the date of writing, not on any record we can reach.
What this rests on
The candidacy, the printed name, the age, the running mate and the filed qualifications rest on INEC’s own signed final list, read on the page. Party registration and full name from the INEC register read directly; candidate entry from press reprints of the INEC list. No biographical claim is made because none could be verified.
What this does not establish
The candidacy is documented; the person is not. The 'Allied Peoples Party' rendering used by some outlets is not confirmed by INEC's register.
What we did ourselves
We corrected the party name against INEC's register, disambiguated the candidate from the similarly named Kano governor, and state plainly that the personal record is empty rather than inventing one.
