Privacy and terms of use
We record nothing that tells us who you are. Everything we publish is free to read, quote and republish.
What we do not collect
No accounts, no advertising, no tracking cookies, no analytics company, no third-party scripts or fonts. Pages load only from verorecord.com and its archive and map sites, so no outside company learns that you visited.
What we count
To know which reports are read, each page sends one anonymous signal to our own server when it is opened, and a short signal while it stays open on screen. These signals carry the page address and nothing else: no IP address, no cookie, no device identifier. They are added to totals such as "this report was opened 40 times today", and nothing ties one signal to another. When you press a share button, we count which button was pressed on which page.
The visitor counter sets one cookie, a random token that only marks that a browser has already been counted. It holds nothing about you and is never logged.
Our web server keeps a log of page requests to run the site: the time, the address requested, the referring page and the browser type. It does not log IP addresses.
Messages you send us
The contact form stores your message and only the details you choose to give. It does not record your IP address or browser. Messages are read by the newsroom and never shared. If you are sending something that could identify you, see the advice on the contact page.
Terms of use
Our reporting is free to read, quote, mirror and republish, with or without attribution. Documents published with our reports were issued by the public bodies named on them. Grades and findings are statements about documents, not about guilt: where we say a record does not establish something, that limit is part of the report and should travel with any quotation of it.
If you believe something we published is wrong, tell us through the contact form. Corrections are published in place, at the same length, with the date they were found.
